Lifestyle Program
Lifestyle is the interaction between the various pillars that collectively affect the physical and mental health of the individual. These pillars include: nutrition, movement, meaning, sleep, relaxation and social connection.
An unhealthy lifestyle can lead to chronic diseases that are often treated with medication. Scientific research shows that even a small change in lifestyle can have an impact on reducing or even eliminating the patient's symptoms. This is true, for example, of type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure. For these chronic conditions, "demedicalization" manuals have been developed that explain how lifestyle interventions can be used to reduce medication.
Vereniging Arts en Leefstijl is the authority in translating evidence-based lifestyle medicine into practice. Their accredited training courses offer healthcare professionals from all disciplines the knowledge, skills and tools to guide individuals with health problems and risks to a healthy lifestyle as an integral part of appropriate and sustainable care. Lifestyle intervention is a win-win for the patient, the healthcare professional and the planet.
Moreover, members share their knowledge and expertise with policy makers to accelerate lifestyle interventions in healthcare.
Members of the Arts en Leefstijl association are registered healthcare professionals such as general practitioners, medical specialists, pharmacists, support staff, dieticians, physical therapists and lifestyle coaches. Students are also members.
