Social Health Program

Why

Debt prevention is easier than debt elimination. It often takes years before people discuss their money worries. This increases the chance of debt and (potentially) unsolvable problems. The sooner attention is paid to money matters, the less chance of money worries. The Busclub helps people prevent problems with money.

What

Busclubs meet monthly. It is a place where people with limited financial resources can discuss their financial matters in a safe and friendly environment; covering everything from paying bills to saving and budgeting. For their participation, they receive so-called bus money that they are free to spend. Bus clubs take the time to review and explain everything regarding money matters at their own pace . Participants can always turn to the group for support and help hold each other accountable.

Participation in a bus club increases financial self-sufficiency.

This breaks the cycle of loneliness due to poverty, reduces the risk of relapsing into debt and enables increased social participation.

Stichting Busclub represents the interests of low-income people who, as a result, have money stress and are unable to fully participate in society. The bus money participants receive is a donation that they use to practice saving and budgeting for a year. This provides practical knowledge, financial overview and peace of mind.

Noaber

This donation is funded by our social health program, through which we hope to bring more attention and action to the power of social structures to promote health.

Apart from the direct impact the initiative has, we also want it to inspire others. We believe in the power of informal support networks like the Busclub and are curious under what conditions it will be successful.
