Social Health

Social resilience of individuals and communities as a health factor

A sense of meaning and connection with others is essential to health and quality of life. A variety of studies show that social health is closely related to both physical and mental health. People with satisfying social connections live longer, (positively) healthier and happier lives.

However, as a result of social developments, relationships and social support are under pressure; both for known at-risk groups and in our society as a whole. It is a complex problem; there is no infrastructure and clear policy vision to effectively improve social health. Moreover, the importance of the social context is systematically underestimated; we have the impression that there is a lack of awareness, knowledge and perspective.

Together with organizations in the social domain, we are putting the relationship between social welfare and health on the map

More attention and awareness

Social functioning in relation to health deserves more attention and awareness. We have therefore created a development program with the aim of increasing awareness, evidence and acceptance of social health in the Netherlands. In doing so, we want to drive change by unlocking knowledge, generating publicity and inspiring stakeholders by highlighting successful initiatives. All in order to stimulate a new perspective on health and well-being.
